Janis Berzins Wins Young Player Of The Month

VEF forward Janis Berzins has been named the VTB United League's March Young Player of the Month, picking up the honor for the second consecutive month.

For the 4th straight year, the VTB United League will recognize the league's Young Player of the Year at the conclusion of the regular season, awarded to a player born in 1993 or later. The league also names a monthly MVP and Top 3, with those results impacting the selection of the Young Player of the Year.

VEF forward Janis Berzins takes home the honor in March. The 22-year-old Latvian played in four games last month (vs. UNICS, Bisons, Vita and CSKA) and established himself as one of the team's most indispensable players. Berzins averaged 15.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and a 17.6 efficiency rating.

His best game came against the Army Men in Moscow. Berzins erupted for 19 points, six rebounds and three assists in just 19 minutes on the court.

Joining Berzins in March's Top 3 are Enisey guard Denis Zakharov and Nymburk guard Chasson Randle.

- It's cool to be recognized again by the league, - said Berzins. - This only motivates me more. I won't stop now. We have a goal of beating one of the top teams this season. There are still games left against Nizhny Novgorod, Avtodor and Lokomotiv-Kuban and we want to finish the season on a high note.
