Denis Zakharov Wins Young Player Of The Month

Enisey guard Denis Zakharov has been named the VTB United League's January Young Player of the Month.

For the 4th straight year, the VTB United League will recognize the league's Young Player of the Year at the conclusion of the regular season, awarded to a player born in 1993 or later. The league also names a monthly MVP and Top 3, with those results impacting the selection of the Young Player of the Year.

Enisey guard Denis Zakharov takes home the honor in January. The 22-year-old Russian played in three games last month (vs. UNICS, Krasny Oktyabr and VEF), establishing himself as a leader in Krasnoyarsk. Zakharov averaged 12.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and a 10.7 efficiency rating in January.

Joining Zakharov in January's Top 3 are Avtodor center Artem Klimenko and Khimki center Stanislav Ilnitsky.

- It's always nice to get noticed, but the most important thing is for the team to play well. Then your performance will be judged on its merits, - says Zakharov. - In any case, I'll let the experts do the judging. My job is to play each game and do whatever I can to make the team better.
