Vitaly Fridzon: League's Top Russian Player In January

CSKA guard Vitaly Fridzon has been named the VTB United League's top Russian player in January.

This is the 4th season that the VTB United League will honor the top players from each league country, with the 2015-16 award winners to be announced at the end of the regular season.

An expert panel appointed by the VTB United League will determine the winners in the seven countries represented by one club (Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Finland and Georgia). The top player in Russia, which is represented by nine clubs, will be determined by league experts and media partner TASS. The results from each month of the regular season will also be factored into the selection.

CSKA guard Vitaly Fridzon picks up the award in the 4th month of the season. The Army Men went 5-0 in January and sit atop the league standings at 18-1. Fridzon was terrific on the court, averaging 14.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and a 16.6 efficiency rating per game.

Joining Fridzon in January's Top 3, as selected by the VTB United League and TASS, are Khimki guard Alexey Shved and Nizhny Novgorod forward Semen Antonov.

Nizhny Novgorod guard Maxim Grigoryev won the award in October, while Shved earned honors in November and December.

- First of all, I want to say thank you for this recognition, - noted Fridzon. - This is my first official individual honor at CSKA, which means all the work I've put in has paid off. January wasn't an easy month for us. We had a lot of injuries and I'm grateful to my teammates and coaches for their faith in me. We played five games and won all of them, which is most important.
