Viktor Khryapa: League's Top Russian Player In February
CSKA forward Viktor Khryapa has been named the VTB United League's top Russian player in February.
This is the 4th season that the VTB United League will honor the top players from each league country, with the 2015-16 award winners to be announced at the end of the regular season.
An expert panel appointed by the VTB United League will determine the winners in the seven countries represented by one club (Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Finland and Georgia). The top player in Russia, which is represented by nine clubs, will be determined by league experts and media partner
. The results from each month of the regular season will also be factored into the selection.
CSKA forward Viktor Khryapa picks up the award in the 5th month of the season. The Army Men went 4-1 in February, setting a league record by winning 19 straight games. Khryapa played a big role in CSKA's success. After returning from injury in early January, the Russian big man is hitting his stride, averaging 9.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and a 14.8 efficiency rating per game in February.
Joining Khryapa in February's Top 3, as selected by the VTB United League and
, are Khimki guard Egor Vyaltsev and Nizhny Novgorod forward Semyon Antonov.
Nizhny Novgorod guard Maxim Grigoryev won the award in October, CSKA guard Alexey Shved earned honors in November and December and CSKA guard Vitaly Fridzon came out on top in January.
