EuroBasket 2015 has just ended in French Lille as the National team of Spain became the Champion of the tournament. Lokomotiv’s Victor Claver became one of the triumphants having played in seven Eurobasket 2015 games including the Final clash versus Lithuania.
Spain and Claver (he played 15 minutes, scored 7 points, made 6 rebounds and 2 blocks) overcame Lithuania 80:63, as the latter was represented by UNICS’ forward Arturas Milaknis (9 minutes, 3 points). Spain became the EuroBasket champions for the third time in their history. France, meanwhile, clinched the third place of the tournament with CSKA’s Nando De Colo making it to the tournament All Star Five. France together with De Colo (game high 20 points in the win) defeated Serbia, who had his club’s teammate Milos Teodosic on the roster.
Some other VTB United League players had a major role on seven national teams that advanced to the Top 8 of the EuroBasket 2015 including the teams of Czech Republic and Latvia, as the majority of the players together with the Head Coaches - Ainars Bagatskis (Nizhny Novgorod) and Ronen Ginzburg (Nymburk) play on VTB United League squads. Latvia and Czech Republic surprised everyone not only with advancing to the play-offs, but also advancing past the first round. They faced each other in the game for the 7th place, as the Czech beat the opponent as well as clinched 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament berth.
