Nymburk Wins Big In Karagandy

Nymburk defeated Astana in Karagandy on Sunday afternoon, 98-63. Ronen Ginzburg's men surged ahead in the opening minutes and never let the home team threaten. Nymburk has now won 14 games and is closing in on its first-ever postseason berth.

Astana's last win came on January 24 vs. Kalev. Since then, Astana had lost six in a row entering Sunday's contest. The Kazakh club had also never defeated Nymburk prior to today's game, 0-3 all-time, including an 18-point defeat earlier this season.

Playing in Karagandy for the first time in 2016, Astana struggled to solve Nymburk's defense in the opening period. The visitors took advantage of Astana's shooting woes, attacking on the fast break and lighting up the perimeter.

Leading 25-12 at the end of 10 minutes, Nymburk continued to pull away in the 2nd quarter, entering halftime with a 23-point advantage. Vojtech Hruban (11 points, six rebounds) and Michael Dixon (10 points, five assists) did the most damage for the visiting Czechs.

Ronen Ginzburg's club coasted in the second half, polishing off a comprehensive 35-point win, 98-63, to improve to 14-10 on the season.

Howard Sant-Roos. It's tough to single out one player on Nymburk's roster, but Sant-Roos gets the nod, finishing a little shy of a triple-double: 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.
