VTB United Youth League Season Tips Off
Khimki-2 and Krasny Oktyabr-2 opened the VTB United Youth League season in Khimki tonight, with the home team cruising to a 93-63 victory.
10 Russian teams will compete in the league this season: CSKA-2, Khimki-2, Lokomotiv-Kuban-2, UNICS-2, Nizhny Novgorod-2, Enisey-2, Zenit-2, Krasny Oktyabr-2, Avtodor-2 and Superleague youth club Samara-2.
The league format will remain the same: a 36-game regular season from October to April, capped by the Final Eight in May.
The VTB United Youth League was founded in 2013 by the VTB United League in order to unite Russia's top young talent. The upcoming season will be the league's third. Khimki-2 (2013-14) and CSKA-2 (2014-15) captured the first two titles.
