Malcolm Delaney Wins January MVP
Lokomotiv-Kuban guard Malcolm Delaney has been named the VTB United League January MVP.
The VTB United League and Sport-Express use the following factors when selecting the MVP: player efficiency rating, expert rankings and the VTB-League.com fan vote.
Delaney finished with 8 points in the ranking, beating out CSKA guard Vitaly Fridzon (6 points).
Delaney and Lokomotiv-Kuban went undefeated in January, knocking off Zenit, VEF and Nymburk. Delaney controls the tempo for Krasnodar and is terrific at creating his own shot. During January, the American guard averaged 16.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and a 15.3 efficiency rating per game. After stumbling to a 5-5 start in the league, Krasnodar has now won six straight to move into 5th place.
Joining Delaney on the VTB United League All-January team, as selected by VTB United League and Sport-Express experts, are Nizhny Novgorod center Rasid Mahalbasic, Astana forward Nik Caner-Medley, CSKA guard Vitaly Fridzon and Khimki guard Petteri Koponen.
