Bagatskis' And Ginzburg's Squads Among Top Eight At EuroBasket
The Head Coaches of the VTB League teams Ainars Bagatskis (Nizhny Novgorod) and Ronen Ginzburg (Nymburk) helped their teams, Latvia and Czech Republic respectively, reach the Quarterfinal stage of EuroBasket 2015.
Both squads under the helm of Bagatskis and Ginzburg successfully started the round robin, clinched second places in their groups with three victories and later posted the wins in the first round of the elimination round. In the 1/8 Finals Latvia overcame Slovenian side 73:66, while Czech Republic surprised Croatia 80:59.
Bagatskis' and Ginzburg’s teams advanced to the Top 8 teams in Europe (their opponents at the Quarterfinal Stage will be France and Serbia respectively) and at least will participate at the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Note, the head coaches of the VTB United League are not the only representatives left at EuroBasket 2015. The majority of the Czech Republic team are the players from Nymburk, while the Latvian squad consists of the roster from the top team in the country VEF Riga, and also from the players of the Russian teams Zenit (Janis Timma), Nizhny Novgorod (Kaspars Berzins) and Estonian Kalev (Rolands Freimanis).
