Irakly Chlaidze Named League's Top Georgian Player
Vita guard Irakly Chlaidze has been named the VTB United League's Top Georgian Player in 2015-16.
This is the 4th year that the VTB United League has honored the top players in each country represented by League clubs. In the seven countries with just one club (Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Finland and Georgia), the winner is determined by an expert panel. In Russia, which has nine clubs, Russian information agency TASS partners with the league to name the Top Russian Player.
Irakly Chlaidze becomes the first player to win the award for VTB United League Top Georgian Player.
Chlaidze played 29 games for Vita, averaging 26.3 minutes, 9.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and an efficiency rating of 4.8.
- I'm grateful for the recognition, - noted Chlaidze. - This was my first season in such a strong competition like the VTB United League. Playing against clubs like CSKA, Khimki and Lokomotiv-Kuban was a true challenge. Personally, I want to thank all my teammates and the Vita fans.
