Artem Klimenko Wins Young Player Of The Month
Avtodor center Artem Klimenko has been named the VTB United League's April Young Player of the Month.
For the 4th straight year, the VTB United League will recognize the league's Young Player of the Year at the conclusion of the regular season, awarded to a player born in 1993 or later. The league also names a monthly MVP and Top 3, with those results impacting the selection of the Young Player of the Year.
Avtodor center Artem Klimenko takes home the honor in April. The 22-year-old Russian played in five games last month ( wins vs. Krasny Oktyabr, Bisons and Kalev, losses to VEF and CSKA) and took excellent advantage of his opportunities, averaging 9.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.2 blocks and a 12.0 efficiency rating.
Joining Klimenko in April's Top 3 are Nymburk guard Chasson Randle and VEF forward Janis Berzins.
- It's nice that the league has recognized my success on the court for the second time this season, - said Klimenko. - I hope to continue with the same approach. Randle and I are the only contenders for Young Player of the Year that are in the playoffs. The best game of the month for me came against CSKA. Everyone wants to play well against Russia's strongest club and against the top players in Europe. I think I had a few struggles, but overall did well. Right now I'm trying to be at my best in the playoffs. We are ready to compete and win!
