Loko Survives Saratov Test
Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar defeated Avtodor Saratov on the road on Monday night, 79-70. Kuban led most of the contest, except for a stretch in the 3rd quarter when Saratov managed to briefly shut down the visitors' offense. The final period, however, belonged to Lokomotiv, which improves to 2-1.

After a surprising road loss to Nymburk, Lokomotiv-Kuban destroyed Astana at home last week and won its Euroleague opener on Friday. The Krasnodar club was favored in this game, but not by much, given Avtodor's formidable home-court advantage and 2-1 start to the season.
Monday's game got off to a fast start. Lokomotiv was unstoppable during the first two quarters, finding open looks on the perimeter and open lanes to the basket. Malcolm Delaney led the way for the visitors, who connected on 8-17 three-point attempts and led 51-44 at halftime.
Brad Greenberg made major adjustments during the break, starting with aggressive pressure defense and improved offense inside. Avtodor opened the second half on a 12-4 run, seizing the lead at 56-55.
Lokomotiv, however, adapted quickly to the slower tempo, limiting Avtodor to 14 points over the final 14:10. Ryan Broekhoff drove the nail in the coffin with a 3-pointer at the 2:42 mark in the 4th quarter, giving Lokomotiv a 75-66 advantage.
The visitors went on to win by a final score of 79-70, a huge road win at one of the league's toughest arenas.
