Miss Cheerleader

The Miss Cheerleader Contest is back! Presented by the VTB United League, the popular competition features charming cheerleaders from each of the 20 League clubs as they battle for the affections of basketball fans around the VTB United League. The Miss Cheerleader crown is at stake.

The Miss Cheerleader League of Beauty Contest (40 girls, two from each club) will consist of five preliminary rounds, with six cheerleaders advancing to the competition finals, which will be held during the finals of the VTB United League Playoffs.

Online fan voting on the League’s Facebook and Vkontakte pages will be used to select five of the six finalists. Fans will be able to vote for a contestant twice using the social network links on the contest’s Russian and English-language pages.

The first four rounds will each last 10 days and will be held in March and April. 10 girls will compete in each round. The four winners of these rounds—the participants with the most online votes in their respective round—will advance directly to the finals.

The fifth finalist will be selected in May following a fifth preliminary round. 10 girls will participate, drawn from the eight 2nd and 3rd-place finishers, as well as the top two 4th-place contestants.

But that’s not all! A sixth wild-card finalist will be added this year, selected by a special committee headed up by Ilona Korstin, current VTB United League deputy general director and one of the most beautiful players in women’s basketball history.

The final round of the contest will be held during the 2013/14 VTB United League Playoff finals. The six finalists will receive an invitation to one of the final games, during which the 2nd-ever Miss Cheerleader will be crowned!

Veronika Teplyakova of the Tsmoki-Minsk cheerleading team became the 1st-ever VTB United League Miss Cheerleader at the conclusion of the 2012/13 season.
