UNICS Kazan, Russia vs. «Zalgiris» Kaunas, Lithuania

The game in Kazan between the favorites of VTB United League - Russian UNICS and Lithuanian Zalgiris ended with a convincing victory of hosts - 79:52.

Despite different approaches to compose the teams, presidents of UNICS and Zalgiris Evgeny Bogachev and Vladimir Romanov were sitting together during the match and were in a good mood. In accordance with the major principle of VTB United League: basketball should unite and gratify. So the last year's leader of UNICS Marko Popovic, who is now playing for Zalgiris, received a great ovation from Kazan fans.

Today in UNICS Jawai and Mac Carty were absent. Nevertheless, the hosts started the game quite effectively, as the team from Euroleague should play, which beats everybody except for monsters Barcelona and Sienna. After three-pointers by Wilkinson and Domercant UNICS pulled ahead- 6:0. However in the middle of the starting quarter Zalgiris managed to equalize the score - 11:11.

In fact, Pashutin needed just one minute of timeout to make necessary corrections to the team game – after that followed the spurt 10-0 and excellent prospects for victory. By the big break the position of Lithuanians only became worse - 37:24.

And then - even more. In the third quarter the hosts of Basket-hall increased the advantages to «+20», and in the final 10-minute to «+30». Gaming crisis in Zalgiris after another change of the head coach continues. As for UNICS –Kazan team gained a very good shape with Pashutin, confirming their status as one of the main favorites of the season.

The final score - 79:52 in favor of UNICS. Vladimir Veremeenko scored 18 points; Lynn Greer scored 18 points and made 8 rebounds and 8 assists. In Zalgiris the most productive was Paulius Jankunas – 14 points.
