CSKA defeated Astana on the road on Wednesday, 92-60. The home team managed to keep it close for one quarter, but proved unable to match CSKA's depth or energy. 12 players scored for the visitors, who cruised to a 32-point win and extended their winning streak to 18.

Astana started the game strong, showing no fear in the opening period vs. the reigning champs. The Kazakh club's big three of Nik Caner-Medley, Pat Calathes and Jerry Johnson sliced through CSKA's defense and the team trailed by just two at the end of the 1st quarter, 21-19.

While the starters were impressive, Astana failed to get any production from the bench, which finished with zero points in the first half.

The Army Men took advantage. Kyle Hines and Nikita Kurbanov came off the bench to spark a big run in the 2nd quarter, helping the visitors to a double-digit lead at halftime.

The Red-Blues continued to pull away after the break. Kurbanov's '3' early in the 3rd quarter made it a 22-point game and CSKA led by 27 at the end of the period, erasing any hope of an Astana comeback.

Neither team scored much in the final period with the Army Men celebrating a decisive victory on the road, the team's 18th-straight win. Astana drops into a tie for 13th with Kalev, 6-14 on the season.

Nikita Kurbanov. Primarily a defensive specialist, Kurbanov also did some damage on the offensive end, finishing with 14 points and only one miss from the field. He also contributed three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
