King Sets Record In Kalev Win

Kalev defeated Tsmoki-Minsk at home, 81-73. The Estonians raced to an early lead before Tsmoki mounted a comeback, trimming the deficit to five at halftime and knotting the score at 59-59 entering the 4th quarter. The final period, however, belonged to Rolands Freimanis and Kalev as the home team closed its 2015-16 campaign with a win.

Recap
Prior to its final game of the season, Kalev honored veteran guard and team captain Gregor Arbet, who received the League's Top Estonian Player award.

Kalev held the Dragons to a measly two points in the first seven minutes, entering the 2nd quarter with a 23-13 advantage. The momentum began to shift in the second period, however, as Tsmoki put together a 13-4 run spearheaded by Belarusian big man Ivan Maras.

The home team led 44-39 at halftime, but Tsmoki continued to threaten in the second half. Maras and Hilliard terrorized the Kalev defense, helping the visitors even the score at 59-59 after three quarters.

In danger of disappointing the home fans and ending the season on a seven-game skid, Rolands Freimanis rescued Kalev down the stretch. The talented forward knocked down four consecutive 3-pointers to put Tallinn up six. The home team went on to win by eight, snapping its six-game losing streak.

Star Player
Rolands Freimanis. The Estonian sniper nearly matched his personal scoring record in the VTB United League (32 points vs. VEF during the 2014-15 campaign), recording a double-double (31 points and 10 rebounds), including 14 huge points in the final quarter.

Stats of the Game
25 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards: Shawn King had a big part in Kalev's win and smashed the league record set by Josh Boone in December (20 rebounds). Boone, incidentally, set the record in a Kalev uniform before moving to Khimki in January.
