Krasny Oktyabr Catches Fire In Finland
Krasny Oktyabr defeated Bisons on the road, 109-72. The home team battled valiantly in the first half, taking the lead several times. But Volgograd pulled away before halftime and went on to score 63 points in the second half for a massive win.
Recap
Playing at home in the final game of the season, Bisons planned to do everything possible for a win, despite a very limited rotation.
Volgograd came out firing, jumping to a 13-5 advantage. The Finns answered with Remon Nelson and Ronald Clark, briefly taking the lead. Though Krasny Oktyabr closed the first half on a 10-2 run to lead by eight, Bisons looked competitive, matching Volgograd's frenetic tempo on offense.
But the home team couldn't hang on for 40 minutes. Playing with only seven men, Bisons simply couldn't match Oktyabr's depth. Ikene Ibekwe and Jerry Jefferson led the way for the visitors, helping stretch the advantage to 20 after three quarters. What little intrigue remained quickly ended as Volgograd stormed to a 39-point quarter, finishing the game with 109 points and a 37-point advantage.
Bisons did have one silver lining, as Yannik Franke erupted for 31 points in the contest, shooting 11-21 from the field to go with seven rebounds.
