Astana Stops Vita, Snaps Skid
Astana defeated Vita on the road, 62-53. The home team got off to a strong start, but Astana's defense proved too much over 40 minutes, giving the visitors a much-needed win.

Playing its last home game of the season, Vita looked to reward the fans with a second win in the league. Astana was also motivated, intent on snapping a 12-game losing streak.
The home team came out of the gates strong, leading by as much as double digits in the 1st quarter. But the momentum began to shift in the 2nd quarter. Astana's defense began to give Vita fits, limiting the Georgians to eight points in the period, giving the visitors a 31-30 lead at the end of the half.
Ramunas Butautas's club continued to play superb defense in the second half, enjoying a 22-9 advantage in the 3rd quarter. Vita made a little noise in the 4th, getting within six, 56-50, on a '3' from Irakli Chlaidze. But the home team only scored three more points in the game, slumping to a 62-53 defeat. Astana snaps its lengthy skid and picks up a 7th win of the season.

Alexey Zhukanenko. The Russian center was productive at both ends of the court (14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one block and zero fouls in 28 minutes). He also played a big role in the decisive run to start the 3rd quarter.
