«Enisey» Krasnoyarsk, Russia vs. «Astana» Astana, Kazakhstan

Enisey defeated Astana in Krasnoyarsk, 96-70. The visitors came out strong, but couldn't maintain Enisey's tempo. The game was decided in the 3rd quarter as the visitors' defense and frenetic pace gave them a 22-point lead and, ultimately, the win. Krasnoyarsk now trails Krasny Oktyabr by half a game for 9th place.

Astana brought a weakened roster to Krasnoyarsk with three players (Nik Caner-Medley, Pat Calathes and Alexey Kolesnikov) out with injuries.

Early on, the visitors got big production from Alexey Zhukanenko and Jerry Johnson. The duo combined for Astana's first 13 points, before Alexander Zhigulin and Rustam Yargaliev added 3-pointers, putting the Kazakh club on top by eight, 25-17, late in the opening period.

Enisey began to chip away at the lead after a timeout. Tony Taylor, Alexander Pavlov and Tim Olbrecht helped the home team go on a run and tie the score at 25-25.

The home team continued to impress in the 2nd quarter, outgunning Astana to make it a seven-point game, 51-44, at halftime.

Krasnoyarsk excelled at pushing the pace in the 3rd quarter. Vladimir Pichkurov had an impact, forcing turnovers and scoring the ball in transition. A '3' from Andrey Komarovsky to end the period put the home team on top by 22, 76-54.

The home team put an all-Russian lineup on the floor in the 4th quarter to complete the 96-70 win. Enisey finishes four points shy of 100 and records its 9th win of the season.

Star Player
Alexander Pavlov. The Russian forward has emerged in recent weeks as a major weapon for Oleg Okulov. The Siberian club's defense improves every time he's on the court and he can also contribute on offense. Pavlov had 13 points on 4-6 shooting, while grabbing three offensive boards.
