Nymbuk Puts Brakes On Krasny Oktyabr
Nymburk defeated Krasny Oktyabr at home, 103-76. The Steelmen led briefly to start the game, but couldn't match Nymburk's depth or tempo, falling behind by 14 at halftime. The home team cruised in the second half, enjoying a 72-24 edge in bench scoring.
Recap
Nymbuk was extremely motivated to start the game. Nizhny Novgorod won earlier in the day, meaning the Czechs needed a victory to remain tied for 6th place. The stakes were even higher for Oktyabr: a loss would severely damage Volgograd's fading playoff hopes.
The visitors led early, but once Nymburk went to its bench, the home team quickly pulled away. Chasson Randle, Martin Peterka and Michael Dixon gave the Czechs a big boost, helping Nymburk to a 34-17 advantage after 10 minutes.
Forced to play catch-up, Oktyabr lacked the firepower to match Nymburk's depth. Ekene Ibekwe got the visitors within 14, but Dixon, Peterka and Vojtech Hruban took over in the 3rd quarter, staking Nymburk to a 22-point advantage. The Czechs cruised to victory in the final period, scoring over 100 points for the second time this season.
Star Player
Michael Dixon. Despite entering the game off the bench, Dixon was terrific, scoring a team-high 17 points to go with six assists in only 21 minutes.
Stat of the Game
103 points - Nymburk's second-highest total of the season.
