Enisey Outlasts Bisons In Overtime
Enisey defeated Bisons on the road in overtime, 110-99. Despite playing short-handed, the home team surged ahead in the opening minutes and led most of the contest. After Enisey erased the deficit late, Bisons had a chance to win it in regulation, but couldn't get the shot to fall. Krasnoyarsk pulled away in overtime, earning a valuable victory on the road.
Intro
Martin Zeno, Jacob Burtschi and Ike Udanoh left the team prior to Sunday's game, leaving Greg Gibson severely short-handed.
Nonetheless, Bisons pushed the tempo from the opening tip. Fast breaks, perimeter shooting and the pick-and-roll with Tuukka Kotti helped the home team score 29 points in the opening period for a five-point lead.
The visitors started catching up in the 2nd quarter. Denis Zakharov and Vladimir Pichkurov led the way for Enisey. Zakharov was effective getting into the lane, while Pichkurov lit up the perimeter.
Bisons, however, closed the 2nd quarter strong. 3-pointers from Ville Makalainen and Ronald Clark gave Bisons a six-point lead at halftime, 53-47.
The Finns continued to pull away in the 3rd quarter, knocking down 3's and disrupting Enisey's attack with a zone defense.
Delroy James finally got Krasnoyarsk going. Trailing by double digits, the American forward scored nine quick points, helping Enisey to its first lead of the game, 74-73.
Turning Point
Despite playing with five men, Bisons managed to force overtime. But fatigue eventually caught up. The home team scored a measly five points in overtime, while giving up 16, including 14 to James and Zakharov. Krasnoyarsk improves to 7-14 with the win; Bisons drop to 8-16.
Star Player
Delroy James. The Enisey forward sparked his team's comeback in the 3rd quarter and played strong down the stretch, recording 24 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, a team-high in all three categories.
