Loko Lights Up Perimeter In Blowout
Lokomotiv-Kuban defeated Vita at home on Sunday, 121-71. Despite a strong start from visiting Vita, Krasnodar led by 17 at halftime thanks to red-hot perimeter shooting. The 3rd quarter erased any lingering doubt. The Railwaymen outscored Vita by 28 in the period and went on to win by 50, setting several offensive records in the process.
Recap
Vita hung with Lokomotiv for much of the first half, matching the Railwaymen basket for basket. Daniel Bejarano and Omar Thomas led the way for the visitors and they trailed by only six, 44-38, late in the 2nd quarter.
But once Krasnodar got going from outside, Vita had no chance. Dontaye Draper, Victor Claver and Evgeny Voronov hit 3-pointers to close out the half and give Lokomotiv a 56-39 lead at the break.
The Railwaymen kept rolling in the 3rd quarter, knocking down an incredible nine 3-pointers in the period to outscore Vita, 41-13, and set a new league record for points in a quarter.
Georgios Bartzokas's men cruised in the final period, picking up a 121-71 win and shattering the league record for 3-pointers in a game (24).
