«Krasny Oktyabr» Volgograd, Russia vs. «Bisons» Loimaa, Finland

Bisons defeated Krasny Oktyabr on the road, 83-78. The visitors led from the opening tip. After briefly trailing midway through the 2nd quarter, Bisons pulled away in the second half, leading by as much as 17 in the 4th quarter. The Finns celebrate the New Year with a win and catch Krasny Oktyabr in the standings.

Krasny Oktyabr and Bisons were 13th and 14th in the standings, respectively, entering today's game. Both clubs wanted to start 2016 on the right foot and start climbing the standings. Big men Davon Jefferson and Ekene Ibekwe also made their Volgograd debuts, signing with Krasny Oktyabr during the holidays.

Bisons got on the board first, sharing the ball for a 6-1 lead. At the end of the opening period, Oktyabr trailed by five, 22-17.

The home team found its rhythm early in the second period. An 8-0 run gave Volgograd its biggest lead of the game, 30-26, midway through the quarter. But the momentum shifted to end the half. Bisons outscored Oktyabr, 19-7, to take a 45-37 lead into halftime.

Oktyabr fell even further behind in the 3rd quarter, 63-54. Looking to close out the contest, Bisons locked down on defense, holding the home team to two points over the first four and a half minutes of the 4th quarter. The visitors led by as much as 17, then coasted to victory in the final minutes.
