CSKA Cruises In Prague
CSKA defeated Nymburk on the road, 86-66. The Army Men controlled the momentum from the opening tip to lead by double digits in the first half. Following the break, Dimitris Itoudis's club went on to post a convincing 20-point win and improve to a league-leading 11-1.
Recap
CSKA's arrival created a stir in Nymburk. The home team sold out SA Kralovka for Sunday's showdown with the reigning champs and enjoyed a terrific atmosphere from start to finish (CSKA coach Dimitris Itoudis even complimented the fans following the game). Boasting an 8-4 record, Nymburk hoped to earn redemption for November's blowout loss in Moscow and score a big upset.
But the Army Men had other plans. Cory Higgins led the way in the opening period, scoring 11 points. Afte Higgins slowed down on offense, Nando De Colo picked up the torch, dropping 14 points in eight minutes to give CSKA a 41-17 lead midway through the 2nd quarter.
Nymburk struggled all half to score the ball against CSKA's suffocating defense. By halftime, the visitors had amassed a commanding 52-26 lead.
Unfortunately for the home fans, little changed in the second half. The Army Men kept Nymburk at arm's length and led by 25 entering the final period. Though Howard Sant-Roos managed to cut the deficit to 16 in the 4th quarter, Nymburk would get no closer, slumping to a 20-point defeat.
