Nizhny Stops Vita On The Road

Nizhny Novgorod defeated Vita in Georgia, 100-78. Despite an improved performance from the league's newest club, Nizhny Novgorod secured a comfortable 22-point win thanks to excellent perimeter shooting.

Vita got blown out in its first three games of the season, but head coach Pavel Googe stayed optimistic in interviews, talking about the experience his team had gained playing the league's best teams. Sunday featured another daunting test as Nizhny Novgorod came to town in search of its third win.

Googe had to be pleased by how his men started the game. Vita kept Nizhny within 10 points during the 1st quarter and only trailed by 11 at halftime, 50-39. Victor Rudd did most of the damage for the visitors, drilling four straight 3-pointers to keep the momentum with Nizhny.

Not much changed in the second half. Vita continued to score the ball, but struggled to keep pace with its Russian opponent. The home team never got closer than seven points and trailed by as much as 19 midway through the 3rd quarter. Nizhny continued to light up the arc, pulling away for good in the 4th quarter to secure a 100-78 win.

Vita drops to 0-4 on the season, while Nizhny improves to 3-1.

Star of the Game
Victor Rudd. He used his size to dominate the Georgian defenders, distributing and scoring from the forward position. Rudd ended the contest with 26 points (67% from the field), six rebounds and five assists.

- There was never a moment when I was concerned about the outcome of the game today. Vita is getting better each game and has had to play a lot of good teams. The Georgians shouldn't be judged on these games. I wish the team luck.
