Nymburk stuns Krasnodar!

In a Regular Season game Czech champions Nymburk defeated Lokomotiv-Kuban on their home floor - 76:74. The visitors led for the entire game, until Michael Dickson took over in the 4th quarter by just ripping apart Krasnodar’s defensive ranks.

The Plot.
Lokomotiv started their season on the road with a loss in Czech Republic, while Nymburk are now 2-0 in the Regular Season.
The game started out slowly, with both teams feeling each other out. Lokomotiv got the slender lead in the end of the quarter by mounting an 8:0 run. The lead grew to double digits thanks to Chris Singleton’s power game and a couple of long distance bombs from Yevgeny Voronov (29:19). At that time Nymburk found a hero of their own – Michael Dickson, who either hit threes or took the ball inside for an and-1. He singlehandedly kept his team in the hunt and only down by eight points. The teams left for the locker rooms with the score - 37:29.

Loko continued their style of play in the second half, their center Kyrylo Fesenko controlled the paint, helping to maintain his team’s lead. That was until Dickson has caught the scoring bug, pouring in 11 points in five minutes and cutting the lead to the minimum. Then Maxime de Zeeuw put Nymbruk ahead — 66:65! The Railroad team started dumping the ball inside in hope of changing the flow, but it didn’t matter, because at that point Mr. Dickson would not be denied.

The Key Moment.
With only a few ticks of the clock left Howard St. Ross ran on the fast break with Dickson, buried the transition three - 73:72, and buried Krasnodar’s chances for success.

The Hero.
Michael Dickson. An American had a fine outing in the first half, but saved the best of his heroics for the final 10 minutes, scoring a whopping 18 in the 4th quarter and 31 points total.

The Number.
28:17 — The score in the 4th quarter when the game was won and lost.

The Quotes.
Ronen Ginsburg. Nymbruk’s head coach.
I think this was of the finest wins for our team in recent years. This victory is special, because it’s important for many of our young players to know they can play with and defeat a Euroleague level basketball team. This is an important win for our club and for Czech basketball.
Georgios Bartzokas. Lokomotiv-Kuban’s head coach.
We played an atrocious second half, especially on the defensive end. It’s unacceptable for our team to get 47 points scored on us in 20 minutes. We let Nymbruk feel the confidence they needed and they took advantage of our let downs. You have to stay focused for the duration of a whole game, the whole 40 minutes, otherwise you will lose in this League.
